A stray mother dog adopted three lost newborn kittens that wandered into her den.

Footage shows the pooch breastfeeding her litter with the felines crowding around her in Bulacan province, the Philippines on September 28.

Resident Virgilio Porciuncula said he saw the unusual stray family near his home while walking around the neighbourhood.

He said: ‘The mother dog built a nest under the table with her puppies. She just gave birth and the dogs were so cute.

‘But when I checked them, there were three kittens too. I don't know where they came from, but they seemed peaceful.'

Virgilio said the dogs and the cats would be adopted by his neighbours once they've grown a bit bigger.

He said: ‘We bring food to the mother dog but we can't take the puppies yet. They need her milk and we would have to wait until they can eat solid food.

‘The kittens also can't eat cat food yet so it's better for them to stay with the dogs first before they could be adopted.'
