A shocked resident was terrified after finding a snake slithering in her computer desk.

Sumali Inna was working from home when she discovered the serpent writhing next to the machine's CPU in her home in Rayong province, Thailand, on December 4.

She fled outside her house and called the emergency services. When the animal handlers arrived, they scoured the room and spotted the reptile hiding in the desk's keyboard drawer.

Footage shows a gloved volunteer bravely wrangling the beast, which had twisted itself in a mess of electric cables.

Despite the snake's attempts to bite him, the specialist easily disentangled the wires and dragged the creature out of the residence. The reptile was sealed inside a sack and later released into the undergrowth.

A relieved Sumali said: 'There are eight dogs guarding outside so I was surprised to find the snake inside the room, which I use as an office.

'It was too big for me to catch on my own so I asked the volunteers to help.'
