Officials caught a red deer jumping into a water treatment facility in eastern China.

Video filmed in Shanghai on December 3 shows a red deer, weighing approximately 100kg, jumping over a barrier gate and entering the facility.

The factory's employees saw the deer running around and attempted to catch it but failed so they reported the case to the police.

Police officers contacted the employees of the local agriculture and rural affairs committee to help catch the deer.

They then used tranquilliser darts to control the deer.

The red deer is reportedly a protected species in China.

A wild red deer broke into a water plant in east-central China.

Video filmed on December 7 shows a red deer leaping over the gate door and entering the factory. According to the factory’s employees, they attempted to catch it but failed before they called the police for help.

The policemen arrived and contacted the officers of the agricultural commission. Cooperated with the police and the security guards, the officers drove the red deer to a narrow path and control it with anaesthesia darts.

Loaded up onto a truck, the red deer would be handed over to the agricultural commission for follow-up arrangements.

The red deer is one of the national second-class protected animals in China.
