Hundreds of Palestinian activists joined a festival to mark the 55th founding anniversary of the Marxist-Leninist nationalist group The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) in Gaza on Thursday.

Footage shows the festival-goers waving Palestinian flags with the party's emblem attached as they trooped to the Al-Katiba Square west of Gaza City on December 8.

They also carried portraits of the group's fallen members who died in fighting in the West Bank.

Jamil Mezher, PFLP Deputy Secretary-General, said in a speech referring to clashes with Israel: 'In the name of those entrenched in their national identity in Haifa, Al-Naqab, Al-Nasirah, Umm Al-Fahm, Al-Jalil, and the Triangle, there are no solutions, no settlements, and no negotiations with the occupier.'

He added that the PFLP will 'continue in the path of struggle and resistance.'

The Gaza Strip in the State of Palestine has been the scene of military and terrorist conflict for a number years amid a dispute with Israel over territory and religion.
