Derek Beattie captured this fantastic footage of Ice Pancakes on Tarf Water near Kirkcowan, Wigtownshire, Scotland.
Derek explains how the ice pancakes formed by foam freezing on the river. The foam is caught in an eddy below the weir on the river, causing it to collide with other foam pieces to form discs. The temperature in the locality of the river had been as low as minus five centigrade during the past five nights and only improving to just above freezing point during daylight hours.
