A sweet pet dog jumped into a swimming pool to rescue his drowning younger sibling.

The pooches were playing with pupils when the smaller creature slipped off the ledge at a school in Cebu province, the Philippines on December 6.

He quickly swam into the water to assist his brother but he could not pull him up so the worried children called the teachers for help.

Footage shows the hero pooch saving the other dog into safety as the boys and girls called the adults.

Teacher Vanissa Erana said: 'The dogs live in the school with the staff. They are siblings and are always together.

‘I was touched by the dog's sweet gesture of helping his brother. He really loved him so much.'

The younger dog was carried off the water by one of the staff. He was unhurt and returned to playing after the incident.

Teacher Vanissa added: ‘I am also proud of my pupils. They went into action when they noticed something was wrong.'
