This is the heartwarming moment a family rescued a dosey pet dog stuck in an awkward position in the garden drain.

Footage shows a mother pulling off weeds from the corner of their home to reveal the hole where the small pooch was trapped in Saraburi province, Thailand on September 24.

The dog's head poked out of the hole, but it was too small for the body to fit so the mother had to take out a rock as well.

In the end, she was able to free the brown pooch with the help of her relative. The dog then ran around their yard.

Relative Kanokthip Uthai Jamsriphol said: ‘We heard the dog crying while we were tending to the plants. We looked for it until it led us behind the house, where there was a drain.

‘I think the dog was swept down the drain while playing. He was such a brave dog to have survived that.'
