This is the shocking moment a stray wheel bounced into an oncoming car on a road in Thailand.

Dashcam footage shows the loose tyre from a passing 10-wheeler flying in from the opposite lane into Kanchanath Muttisant's black BMW while she and her husband were driving along Chonburi province on December 11.

The impact wrecked the front right part of their vehicle and was strong enough to deploy the airbags.

Kanchanath said the accident also triggered the vehicle's intelligent emergency response, allowing help to reach them faster.

She said: 'I'm thankful that my husband manoeuvred the car well so that we didn't crash into other people. I'm also thankful for the quick response of the BMW SOS.

'I hope this serves as an example for road users to take care of their own cars not just for themselves, but also for other motorists.

'We should also always wear seatbelts when travelling, no matter how near or far our destination is.'

She added that no one was injured from the accident. Police are yet to find the driver of the truck from which the wheel came loose.
