Ferris wheel power cut leaves fairgoers stuck in the air without lights
Terrified tourists were left stuck in the air for several minutes after a sudden power outage hit an annual fair in Thailand.
Fairgoers, including young children, were trapped on a ferris wheel when it stalled due to the blackout at the 2022 Red Cross Fair in Amnat Charoen province on December 6.
Other fairground attractions also ground to a halt for around 12 minutes before electricity was restored.
Pradit Udomsri, a member of the Amnat Charoen municipal council, said: 'The incident is a major concern. It is unfortunate that it happened at a large-scale provincial event like this.'
He added that organisers should be equipped to deal with power outages or surges to prevent rides from stalling in the future.
No injuries or casualties have been reported.
