A small community in the Thai capital Bangkok is home to dozens of gifted flute makers and musicians.

The Ban Lao community, situated near Khlong Bang Rai Kai canal, are descendants of migrants from neighboring Laos who settled in Thailand more than 200 years ago.

Footage shows a husband and wife handcrafting hundreds of bamboo flutes inside their house.

The couple is only two of the many others who produce the beautiful bamboo flutes by hand and sell them on the market along the canal.

Together, they can finish up to 50 flutes per day in their living room, cutting, assembling parts, and toning the instruments.

As most of the original settlers were musicians, families who lived in the community today learned the trade after being passed on to generations.
