A nurse protesting outside St Thomas' Hospital on Thursday (December 15) in solidarity with striking NHS Trusts called for a 20% pay rise and apologised for cancelled appointments.

The protester called on the UK government to go into negotiations with Pat Cullen, General Secretary and Chief Executive of the Royal College of Nursing, and "give us what we need, which is that 20% pay rise".

He added, "So, obviously apologising that appointments have been cancelled, but this is a long-term game. If nurses are paid properly, if staffing is correct, then obviously we can deal with this backlog and give quality care again".
