Thousands of Peruvians descended on the main cities to protest the detention of Pedro Castillo and to demand new elections.

On Av po. De la República in Lima Peru protesters with home made riot shields face off against riot police. In response police fire multiple volleys of tear gas at them and into the park behind them where more protesters had fled to. In the background fires are lit by the protesters. The protesters on the streets calling for new elections / the reinstatement of Castillo / against government corruption.
