Despite the devastation around them, some determined football fans in Kharkiv, Ukraine, gathered in a tent to watch the Argentina-France final of the World Cup on Sunday 18 December.

With large areas of Ukraine cut off from power, many homes without heating, and towns under curfew at night, such tents are life-saving places were Ukrainians can find heat, watch TV, and charge their phones.

Outside the tent there was nothing but darkness and cold, but inside was over two hours of some of the finest football seen in this year's World Cup.

And while goal celebrations amongst the handful of viewers there were subdued, there was no doubt that they were as engaged as millions watching around the world.

The tent was in the Saltovka are of Kharkiv -- the most destroyed neighbourhood in the city, where almost 80% of homes have been damaged in the fighting.

December 20 marks 300 days since the start of the war.
