Thai fans celebrated the Argentina World Cup win with giant blue-and-white Messi shirt hung at a traffic light junction.

The two-metre long replica jersey with 'Messi' and '10' on the back was made from hessian sacks to mark the team's victory over France on penalties at the at the Lusail Stadium in Qatar on Sunday night December 18.

Supporter Sombat Ninprapha, 34, also waved a cut-out trophy replica to accompany his mural to the footballer Lionel Messi, who some claim is now the 'goat', meaning greatest of all time.

Sombat, from Phayao, northern Thailand, said: 'I have supported Messi since he played at Barcelona. Our tribute to him is getting a lot of support. Drivers are honking their horns.'

Argentina last won the tournament in 1986 when notorious drug addict Maradona cheated by punching the ball into the goal.
