A hero student rescued a dying puppy she found abandoned on a dumpsite in the Philippines.

Krizzia Joy Rosare, 13, was on her way home from school when she spotted the white pooch crying under a pile of garbage in Batangas province on December 13.

Footage shows the kind youngster carefully removing trash that pinned down the frantic dog.

The girl then took her new pet home, whom she later named Save, and cared for him until he regained health.

Her mother Genevieve said: ‘It looked like someone threw away the poor puppy in the dump site near our house.

‘There was trash on top of him. I believe it was done on purpose so he could not run away or return to their home.'

Proud mum Genevieve added that after about two days, the puppy was stronger and happy while staying with them in their home.

She said: 'We will take care of Save from now on. I hope pet owners would be more responsible and not abandon their animals.'
