Soccer fans in this remote fishing village in India, on an island in the Indian Ocean, celebrate wildly the victory of Argentina in the Qatar World Cup when they defeated defending champions France.

Dancing, cheers, horns and jerseys adorned the island village of Thoothur in Kanniyakumari district, Tamil Nadu state on Monday (December 19).

The village even has a statue of Messi and a road junction is named after him. On the Argentine captain's birthday, special prayers are conducted and free meals are distributed, locals say.
