Schoolboy leaves dad's new car covered in scratches after clearing snow off bonnet with a SHOVEL
A schoolboy left his dad's new car covered in scratches after he tried to help him by clearing snow off bonnet - with a shovel.
Humphrey Grimmett, 46, was shocked when he reviewed CCTV footage from outside his house to find the culprit of the £1,000 damage, was his own seven-year-old-son.
The little lad had helpfully tried to clear the snow from his dad's six-month-old car using a spade he found nearby.
Humphrey, from near High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, said: "It wasn't until Wednesday that I saw the scratches - they're absolutely terrible, massive scrapes."
"I checked the cameras to see what happened and there my son was using a shovel he found outside from building work we were doing to get the snow off."
"When he got home from school I asked him, if he knew why there were so many scratches on daddy's car, and when he said no I asked whether he'd been taking snow off of it."
"He looked at me with his big blue eyes and said 'yes', and when I asked why he did it with a shovel he said he thought it would be satisfying."
Bless him.
"The ironic thing is that the car wasn't even going anywhere - he just wanted to help out."
The video was taken on December 12.
