Terrified residents threw a roll of newspaper onto a wild snake to chase it away from a car in Thailand.

The locals spotted the 4ft-long serpent slithering under a grey sedan parked on the road in Chachoengsao province on December 15.

But the creature sparked more panic when it tried to climb up the sidewalk, so an old man tossed whatever he could find onto the animal.

Footage shows the cheeky snake crawling on the concrete path before the print was hurled onto the creature.

Driver Mashiz Mint said: ‘I was about to leave the place and was heading to my car when I noticed the black snake.

‘I shouted, and the people who lived nearby heard me. They helped me take my car back from the snake.'

No one was hurt, and the snake had slithered into a drain. Local officials were also informed of the snake sighting in the area.
