Spain kicked off the winter holidays with its huge Christmas lottery known as “El Gordo”. El Gordo hands out a total of €2.3 billion ($2.44 billion) prize money across the country. The lottery’s top prize per winning ticket is €400,000. El Gordo is a significant event in Spain, as millions of hopefuls queue at lottery booths in hopes of winning the grand prize.

This footage illustrates lottery of five series of the first prize, that is to say, fifty tickets of the Christmas lottery in the administration number 2 of lottery of Barberà del Vallès, in the province of Barcelona, Catalonia. In the video we see the man in charge of the administration who has distributed the prize throwing sparkling wine over himself. There is a pleasant atmosphere around the doors and among people who have approached there are some winners.
