Behold the exquisite call of the Grey Butcherbird as it sings with its young.
Australian Grey Butcherbirds (Cracticus torquatus) are famous for their songs that can be a mixture of exquisite musical notes and harsh, cackling calls. Butcherbirds are predators that take a variety of prey including lizards, insects and other small animals. Uneaten food is often impaled on a sharp twig and stored for a future meal. This adult Grey Butcherbird was calling together with its two fledged young on the edge of the Serpentine River at Nairns in Western Australia.
