A Russian tourist sparked outrage when he had an evening jog - running naked along a beach.

The holidaymaker emerged from a moored speedboat before clambering onto the sand and running through the surf at sunset on the idyllic Koh Samui island.

Shocked American ex-pat Justin Ross Lee watched in disbelief as the man ignored his shouts asking him what he was doing.

He then recorded the naked Russian sprint along the shore outside the Secret Garden resort. He was seen sprinting with abandon across the sand with no underwear, his privates swinging freely in the sea breeze.

Justin says in the video 'what is this guy doing?'.

He then yells: 'mate, what are you doing? Are you out of your f***ing mind? Oh, you f***ing idiot'.

Justin said the man was later identified as being Russian after he had jogged the length of the beach before returning to the vessel, which he was sharing with other holidaymakers.

Police are not believed to have taken any action against the tourist, who has now left the country.

Section 388 of Thailand's Criminal Code states that 'any person who performs such a disgraceful act in public by undressing himself, exhibiting his undressed person or committing any other act of obscenity shall be liable to a fine not exceeding five hundred baht'.

Military top brass in Bangkok are desperate to clean up the country's reputation as a sex destination for middle-aged men from across the world.

However, they face an uphill struggle against its entrenched sex industry and endemic corruption, with massage parlours and bars functioning as shop windows for sexual service.

Adult attractions are also a lucrative part of the tourism industry, which before the pandemic accounted for 21 percent of Thailand's annual GDP, generating 1.8 trillion baht (52.3 billion USD) in revenue.
