This is the shocking moment a train slammed into a taxi killing its driver at a level crossing in Thailand.

Street CCTV footage shows the yellow-and-green cab making a turn at a junction, and driving right into the path of an oncoming train in Bangkok on December 23.

The train ploughed through the sedan, dragging it 200 metres across the tracks and killing its driver - identified as a certain Lieutenant Chucheep - on the spot.

The Train 1232 Bangkok - Kaeng Khoi with four carriages also sustained damage.

Railway operator Mana Wetchathap said: ‘I am responsible for ensuring the orderliness of this train. The train left Hua Lamphong station at 5:20 am heading to Kaeng Khoi station.

'An employee stationed at the North Park intersection had already blocked the approaching taxi, but it suddenly drove through the barrier onto the railway. The collision pushed the taxi 200 meters away from the intersection.

'The staff had to rush down and move the taxi out of the tracks as they feared it may cause danger.'

Police Lieutenant Colonel Anuchit Chatchuleam said: ‘Police will be investigating the train driver and witnesses at the scene again. As for the deceased taxi driver, we have already coordinated with his relatives to take further steps.'
