The winter storms hitting North America have truly turned these houses along Lake Erie into an amazing and spooky sight. Covered in ice, they look like they're straight out of some apocalyptic Hollywood movie.

The footage filmed on December 26 show several houses along the lakefront, all covered in a thick white layer of ice with countless icicles frozen in the unforgiving cold.

The unusual spectacle is created by the spray from the crashing waves flash-freezing on the houses and that way entombing them in ice.

The fury of Lake Erie.
The recent storm that affected much of North America really put on a show along the shore of Lake Erie at Crystal Beach, Ontario. The intense winds and frigid temperatures cased the spray from the crashing waves to flash freeze on these houses along the lake, entombing them in ice.

The ice is thick and must be extremely heavy. The brownish colour comes from the dirt and sediment that were also whipped up by the storm.
