This is the crazy moment an angry customer went on a drunken rampage - blasting a fire extinguisher at diners when he refused to pay his bill.

The entitled patron rode his Mercedes to the restaurant in Chiang Mai province, Thailand, and swaggered into the dining area for a meal on December 26.

However, when staff approached to hand him the bill, he reportedly refused to pay, going berserk and threatening them that he had 'friends in high places' and 'knew policemen'.

CCTV footage shows two people trying to pacify the intoxicated customer in a red shirt as he brandished a fire extinguisher and aimed the fumes at other patrons.

He then turned his attention to the restaurant's shrimp pond and fumigated the area with white vapours that contaminated the water, killing the sea creatures. After emptying the canister, he hurled it into the water and strutted away.

Staff said the man appeared to be drunk when he made a scene.

Restaurant owner Thanathorn Aonla-ead, 32, said: ‘The restaurant had to be closed temporarily because we have to clean the pond and improve the water quality. We have to wait for a while before filling the pond with a new batch of shrimp.'

The boss added that the man's rampage cost him an estimated 19,000 to 20,000 THB (around 548 to 577 USD) including cleaning, the dead shrimp, the chairs, the fans, and other damaged items.

Police Colonel Samphan Sirima of the Maejo police station said: ‘The incident was possibly caused by the man's dissatisfaction with the restaurant's service coupled with his drunken state. We were able to identify him using his car's license plate.'

The customer was reported to be a regular at the restaurant, and would sometimes bring his friends there for meals.

Samphan said: 'The suspect has already been summoned to the police station for destroying or damaging another person's property. If found guilty, he may face imprisonment of up to three years, a fine not exceeding 6,000 Baht, or both.'
