West Midlands Police are appealing for witnesses and dash cam footage after a man was left in a critical condition when he was struck by a car in Hall Green, Birmingham on New Years Eve.

A 37-year-old man was taken to hospital following the collision which took place on the Stratford Road, close to the junction with Fox Hollies Road, shortly after 11.30pm last night, 31 December 2022.

The man is believed to have been struck by a Silver Mercedes E220 as he was waiting at a bus stop.

Officers are hoping witnesses may have seen the car, which was heading in the direction of the city from Solihull, prior to the collision.

Cops arrested one man at the scene and he is currently in custody on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and driving above the legal alcohol limit.

Detective Sergeant Paul Hughes, from our Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “We are in the early stages of our investigation. The man was left in a critical condition in hospital and we are supporting his family through this difficult time.

“The road is very busy and we are hoping people will come forward with information. We would like to speak to witnesses or anyone who may have any dash cam footage to help us understand exactly what has happened."
