Dozens gathered on January 2 to watch and cheer as the Toton duck race went ahead for the first time since COVID-19 lockdown restrictions were relaxed.

The event was scheduled for New Year's Day, but due to high river levels, organizers postponed the event to Monday.

It was the first time in four years the event has taken place.

Participants bought a duck with proceeds going to age UK. The ducks were then gathered together and released into the river Erewash with people in dry suits and a net waiting to gather all ducks at the end to prevent harming the environment.
