A customer was shocked after they found a piece of cloth in their takeaway food in southern China.

Video filmed in the city of Chengdu in Sichuan Province on December 28 shows a man named Ning taking a piece of cleaning cloth out of a bowl of hotpot.

Ning was heard saying: "I thought it is a tripe but it is a soaked cleaning cloth."

Ning said they had six people having the food together and two girls both vomited. He contacted the restaurant immediately.

The manager of the hotpot restaurant named Liu said their employee used a cloth to carry the hot pot and accidentally left the cloth in the pot later. They fired the employee already and paid the compensation to Ning.

The manager of the hotpot brand Ms Liu said the restaurant was a franchisee and it was currently closed already.

They would take back the franchise of the restaurant and the local market supervision bureau is investigating the case.

涉事火锅店负责人刘先生介绍，他们是单锅现煮火锅，在出锅时由于锅没有把手“很烫”，员工就拿毛巾包着倒进餐盒，“可能倒的时候就把毛巾遗漏到锅里去了，下一锅煮的时候就煮进了锅里。”随后称会将涉事员工开除，并付3倍赔偿。但宁先生认为，店家的态度让人难以满意。
12月29日，涉事火锅店的品牌方，管理人员刘女士回复称，涉事店面是一家加盟店，目前已停业，涉事员工已被开除，还将收回店铺的加盟权。
目前，成都高新区市场监管局已介入调查。
