A trembling pet Siberian husky was rescued after hiding behind a wall to escape from the sound of New Year fire works.

Three-year-old Sanlarn darted into a tiny gap between his owner's house and the neighbour's home during the noise on December 31 in Samut Prakan, Thailand.

However, the scared pooch was stuck for four hours after being unable to turn around to get back out again - making it increasingly panicked.

Worried owner Paweena called the emergency services and two firemen arrived. She let them smash her kitchen's brick wall so they could make a hole and her husband could reach Sanlarn.

Sanlarn was finally released in the early hours of the morning and scampered around the yard with his food bowl.

Relieved owner Paweena said: 'Fireworks are not fun for pets. They make them so scared. I worry every year about how it will affect my dog.'
