Dozens of cars were involved in a major pile-up in a tunnel in southern China.

The dashcam footage was filmed in the city of Huaihua in Hunan Province on January 1.

Several cars were reportedly damaged in the pile-up.

Hunan Expressway Group Co., LTD announced that traffic was slowed down by a multi-vehicle collision in Longmatian Tunnel. The accident happened at around 10:00 am on January 1.

The traffic returned back to normal at 4:30 pm on the same day.

Local authorities are investigating the cause of the collision.

湖南省高速公路集团公司通报，怀化龙马田隧道内多车追尾致交通通行缓慢。事发于1日10时许，多车相撞后有汽车叠在后车的车顶。1日16时30分，事故路段已恢复通行。
怀化交管部门工作人员称，事故中无人员伤亡，当日车流量较大是造成事故主要原因。
