Thai cops smash crazed drunk-driver's window in chaotic police chase
This is the dramatic moment Thai cops smashed a crazed drunk driver's window following a chaotic police chase.
Officers received complaints about the sedan illegally parked on the road on Koh Chang island in Trat province on December 27.
They asked the motorist to step outside the vehicle but instead, he accelerated away. Police then used a six-wheeler truck to block him.
When he was finally cornered, the driver, later identified as Nitisak Srisuebai, 38, locked himself inside his Nissan March as officers negotiated with him for more than an hour.
Footage shows police using a hammer to break through his glass and surrounding the vehicle as the driver was reportedly armed with a knife.
Koh Chang police station officer Colonel Wanlop Kangtharathip said: ‘The car was blocking the road around noon and he was intercepted by patrolling cops. He showed signs of drunkenness and our officers took action.'
The car reportedly swayed back and forth as it tried to escape.
He was finally arrested and the car was searched. A notebook computer was seized inside.
Although officers did not find illegal substances in the car, the driver's drug test showed large amounts of marijuana in his system.
He was taken to the police station during the investigation.
