Zookeepers handed out presents to animals to celebrate the 2023 New Year Festival.

Director Narongwit Chodchoy said that Khon Kaen Zoo said they gave the gifts to the animals in a bid to stimulate their senses and help them play and seek.

Different food was stored inside present boxes for each animal during the event on January 1.

Zookeepers prepared a food present for Hero, a male white rhinoceros, to attract visitors during the New Year holiday.

For a white rhinoceros exhibition, they also received an oil drum as a toy for entertainment.

White-handed gibbons received bananas while lions and tigers received chicken meat to enhance their senses and relieve their stress.

Zookeepers also put worms in present boxes for meerkats to scoop inside as an entertainment activity.

Desert foxes received a BlueTooth speaker with a cricket sound to enhance their hearing from the sound of their food.
