A kind local saved three hapless puppies after they were dumped in a rubbish bin outside her store in Thailand.

Shop owner Walairat Prathumthong found the trio of tiny black mutts - two male and one female - sealed inside a plastic bag in front of her baby products store in the Mueang district of Trat province on January 3.

A passer-by had informed her about the puppies crying, so she checked the CCTV footage to locate them.

The video shows a middle-aged woman emerging from a black vehicle to dump the plastic bag in the roadside garbage containers.

It is unclear if the woman was the one who had abandoned the puppies as the footage was too blurry.

Concerned neighbours donated sheets of corrugated iron and old blankets to build a makeshift shelter for the strays.

Walairat said: 'I'd like to find a new home for them because they could get hit by a car. I hope someone adopts them soon.'
