95 year old grandfather plays a rare musical instrument in Jelupang , Tangerang Selatan
This grandfather named Mading, 95 years old. he was a musician when he was young. he is a member of a traditional music group. here the music group is called Cokek. a traditional orchestra consisting of 8 players. wind instruments, stringed instruments, percussion instruments. the grandfather was a string player. the tool he uses is called TEK YAN. a musical instrument consisting of two strings joined at a certain point. sounded with a bow like a violin.
Not many people play this instrument. difficult to determine the right tone point. because it takes experience and intense practice to recognize the right tone point.
This musical instrument has an acoustic tube made of old coconut shells. The snar is made of steel wire or nylon fishing line. the bow uses a bunch of plastic threads crossed with strings.
