Anyone who has ever had trouble recapturing a misbehaving dog off its lead will be able to relate to this disaster, though it's one that could have led to serious injury for the canine's owner.

A herd of 100 or more elk had taken refuge in the pasture across from the filmer's driveway in Hermosa, Colorado, when they looked out of the window to see a dog -- that looked like a wolf -- stalking them.

He began to video as the dog chased the herd, giving in to instinct more than the desperate yells of its owner, whom it ignored.

As the owner struggled to regain control of his animal, the dog sent the herd stampeding around the field several times. At one point nearly into the filmer's driveway.

The chaos risked getting the owner caught in the stampede and potentially badly hurt.

The man was finally was able to catch his dog, but the elk herd left the pasture not long after, surely spooked by their experience.

In the end, the dog stampeded the herd around the field a few times, (nearly into my driveway!) as the owner risked getting caught in the stampede to regain control of his pet, He finally was able to catch his dog, but the elk herd left the pasture not long after, spooked for sure!
