Romance wins the match as far-apart Barnsley and Bolton fans exchange numbers with the help of a friendly steward

They say romance is dead but not in the stands of Britain's football clubs it seems.

What started as friendly banter turned into a love story as a steward helped a Bolton fan get a Barnsley supporter's phone number during their League One game on Monday 2 January.

The scene was captured by Lee, who was filming for his vlog Around The Grounds.

Two fans started some cross-stadium banter, as fans do, with each ending up asking for the other's phone number.

Separated by a stand, security and considerable distance it was impossible to swap digits though until a steward stepped in with a pen and paper.

The Barnsley-supporting woman then put her number down and then the steward jumped over a barrier and headed to the guy in the Bolton away-end.

When it was handed over, the Bolton fan celebrated, while both sets of fans cheered the romantic exchange.

Lee said that after he got the number, the man rang the woman and they waved at each other and had a little chat. He added that they both called each other when the woman later left the stadium too.

Around The Grounds filmer Lee summed it up perfectly: "Friendly banter turned into a love story."

"A very funny moment."
