London's Ukrainian Catholic Cathedral was packed with faithful on Sunday 8 January, as Orthodox Christmas celebrations continued.

The service at the cathedral in Mayfair focused on the current situation in Ukraine.

Orthodox Christmas, based on the Julian calendar, is on 7 January, but related celebrations and religious events have gone on throughout the weekend.

Children with candles took part in the service. There was also beautiful singing and sparkling Christmas trees on both sides of the iconostasis.

The Cathedral of the Holy Family as it is formally known, is part of the Ukrainian Catholic Church, which is not part of the Roman Catholic Church under the Pope in Rome.
