Pretty Thai woman becomes an unlikely online star with her prosthetic leg
This pretty Thai woman became an unlikely online star as she sells snacks while showing viewers her prosthetic leg.
Atikan Noithatong, 28, amassed half a million fans whose hearts have been touched as she shares her everyday experiences living with her disability.
The young influencer had suffered an accident in Phitsanulok province, northern Thailand, nine years ago while picking up her mother from home on a motorcycle.
She emerged alive, but doctors had to amputate her left leg which was severely mangled from being crushed by a truck.
Refusing to be beaten down by her disability, the determined crash survivor currently began earning money by selling snacks through her social media accounts on weekdays, and selling fruits at the local wet market on weekends.
Today, she makes her way around town with the help of a prosthesis - and has even managed to save enough to buy a newbuild house, a brand new pickup truck and pay for a boob job.
She said: 'I'm glad I managed to survive such a horrible accident, but at the same time, I went through depression while trying to accept the reality. It took me about a year after the accident to finally move past it.
'Since I had plenty of time on my hands, I found new ways to make ends meet. I pack the snacks by myself and call a delivery man to send it to my customers. On the weekends, I collect fresh fruit from my grandmother's garden with my relatives before heading to the fresh market to sell them.
'I only started TikTok last year in February because I wanted to share my life story to other people. I do get cruel comments online but I pay them no mind. I know there are many who love me for who I am.'
Atikan earns her own money through her self-employed work selling food and posting on social media. She has never receievd donations or collected state handouts.
The determined woman said: 'I lost my leg but I am able to support myself. There are lots of others who aren't as strong-willed as me, so they may need help.'
