Plane 'draws in the sky' as wake vortexes trail of aircraft's wings

A plane spotter captured this incredible footage showcasing wake vortexes trailing off an aircraft's wings as it landed at Bristol Airport, UK, in December 2022.

The filmer told Newsflare: "This phenomenon occurs due to the spanwise component of airflow above and beneath the wings meeting at the wingtips.

"This flow results in 'spillage' over the wingtips, setting up a vortex and an area of low-pressure air.

"As pressure drops, so does the temperature. If the atmosphere is humid enough, as it was on this day, the temperature drop can be enough to take the air temperature below the dew point and the water vapour will condense, producing these stunning visible wingtip vortices."
