An elephant calf was rescued from a 15-foot-deep well in Pathalgaon, Chhattisgarh, with the help of an excavator.

Footage from January 11 shows local forest officials using an excavator to dig out a path for the distressed animal.

After a 3-hour operation, the calf eventually managed to climb out of the well and make its way into a nearby forest.

A baby elephant which fell into well during night hours was rescued after 12 hours by forest department team, with the help of villagers.

According to Local forest officer Kripasindhu Painkra, they got the call from villagers around 8 am in morning that a baby elephant fell into the well in a farm land, we immediately rushed our team their for rescue efforts. Our team after reaching their found that the well os around 15 feet deep.
With the help of jcb our team made a path for the baby elephant so that it can walk out using the path. Once we made the path, with the help of jcb we tried to push the elephant towards the path , the elephant finally after efforts of 3 hours found it's way towards the forest
According to local journalist who went to cover the rescue , local villagers told him that the baby elephant who was part of a herd, but during night it lost his way and went alone towards the other side and fell into the well.
