Speed-up-footage of Indonesia Mount Marapi Erupts, biggest in the last 4 day
Mount Marapi in West Sumatra, Indonesia erupted again on January 11, 2023.
Speed-up-footage filmed at 08:25 a.m shows the biggest eruption in the last week, a column of ash reaching ± 800 metres above the peak.
Gray columns are observed with intensity to the northeast and southeast. G. Marapi is currently on alert or at level II.
The Marapi Volcano Observation Post, Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation (PVMBG) in Bukittinggi noted that a mountain with a height of 2,981 meters above sea level (M ASL) had erupted since Saturday, January 7.
As of Wednesday there had been 134 eruptions, as the height of the volcanic ash eruption was from 200 metres to 800 metres.
Official reports said that thin volcanic ash rain hit the Northeast and Southeast regions.
No one has been evacuated so far.
