Pregnant woman with fear of needles poses with numerous syringes stuck on her skin
A pregnant woman from Brazil, who suffers from Thrombophilia, a condition causing a higher risk of blood clots, poses with numerous syringes on her body to challenge her fear of needles.
After being diagnosed with Thrombophilia, Mônica Cristina Lodi was told that she was going to receive numerous injections to treat the condition. However, Mônica was terribly scared of needles.
"I needed to prepare myself", she said. "Being a mother is without a doubt the thing I have dreamed of for most of my life! Discovering that I had Thrombophilia made me postpone this dream for a while. I'm now ready to be a mother. This is the most beautiful gift I have received from God", she said.
Monica's baby is due on February 6. Together with photographer Welliton Barbosa, she decided to pose and take pictures of herself with many syringes stuck to her skin with double tape to fight her fear.
