Merapi volcano, Indonesia, erupts

Mount Merapi, in West Sumatra, Indonesia, erupted again on January 11.

Footage filmed at 9.42 am shows the volcano spewing ash 500 m into the sky.

Gray columns are observed with intensity to the northeast and southeast.

The Merapi Volcano Observation Post, Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation (PVMBG) in Bukittinggi noted that a mountain with a height of 2,981 meters above sea level (M ASL) hadn't erupted since January 7.

As of Wednesday (January 11), there had been 134 eruptions, as the height of the volcanic ash eruption was 800 metres.

No one has been evacuated so far.
