This is the heartwarming moment a group of Good Samaritans rescued a stray kitten trapped under a roof in Thailand.

The resident heard the baby feline mewling near the ceiling of her home in the Hat Yai area of Songkhla province on November 22.

She called rescue volunteers to free the trapped creature, but seven hours had passed and no officers had arrived to respond to her calls.

Taking matters into her own hands, the woman asked her family and friends to save the moggie.

Footage shows how the kind residents pried up the roof panels to reach the kitten that had slipped through the gaps of concrete.

They shone a light into the darkness and, after locating the frightened animal, used a long bamboo pole to fish it out.

The adorable creature with ginger fur and white socks was seen clinging to its rescuers in thanks.

She said: 'I couldn't bear to leave it alone so I had my friends help me save it. I believe that every life counts, including animals.'

The stray has since been returned to its mum and siblings that lived in the neighbourhood.
