A woman has caught the terrifying moment her ceiling collapsed avoiding a disaster by mere seconds.

Stephanie Lawson, 23, a business development manager from Glasgow, began filming her ceiling after she noticed plaster dropping onto her rug, but had not expected what happened next.

Within seconds of hitting the record, the ceiling comes crashing down, with Stephanie standing just a few metres away.

The 23-year-old shared the scary incident on TikTok, where it now has 1.2 million views and more than 81,000 likes.

People have been quick to comment on the incident, with many being left shocked.

"The fact you’ve got this on camera. Come stay with me," one person said.

Another person added: "The way I gasped."

One person commented: "This is so funny but it’s also not."

Stephanie, who lives with her boyfriend, was left extremely shocked by the incident but claims she's been having issues with her ceiling for weeks before its collapse.

"It was pretty scary, and also I was worried about the dust getting everywhere," Stephanie said.

"About two months ago my partner and I noticed that the cracks in the ceiling were getting worse and beginning to come away from the ceiling.

"The next morning the plasterboard had fallen down and there was a large hole, the landlord came the next morning to clean it up, but left us with a hole in the roof.

"After me complaining for days, he came and covered it up with paper and duct tape (which you can see in the video).

"Sometime later, I noticed that the part already patched over was again getting worse.

"Insurance people had been out after this and said it was safe and there was no chance it was going to fall through.

"The landlord also said he had tried multiple times to get someone to fix it but with no success."

Stephanie claims the ceiling ended up completely collapsing days later on 5 January 2023, leaving her and her partner shocked and traumatised.

She is currently waiting for the hole to be fixed and is currently covering it up with some plastic and duct tape.
