A town in Worcestershire, England was almost cut off after a river toppled flood defences.

The small town of Upton-upon-Severn was surrounded by swathes of flooding as the water flowed over the raised river banks, flooding farmers fields below on Sunday 15 January.

Many properties now have a lake instead of a back garden.

The town was seen by drone to look virtually like an island with only one bridge in and a back road out.

Riverside houses have been swamped and flood gates have been closed to try and save the town beyond.

The River Severn is expected to peak today however freezing temperatures are now forecast which will bring a risk of ice and snow.
