A thrilled resident found baby birds in a nest under a bowl in the kitchen.

Pakawan Wanglad was putting away the clean dishes when she saw dried leaves poking out of the mortar in Bangkok, Thailand on December 26.

When she lifted the kitchen tool up, she was surprised to see the birdlings while another unhatched egg sat beside them.

Footage shows the adorable baby birds crying for their mum as Pakawan slowly lifted up the bowl.

The house owner said: ‘This mortar hasn't been used for a long time. The last time I used it, I cleaned it up and turned it over on the counter with some space to dry it.

‘When I took it to use that day, I found the cute birds. It was a happy surprise.'

Pakawan said she left the bowl with the nest inside so the mother bird could still find them.

She said: ‘I guess I have no choice but to let them live in the bowl now. It's their temporary home until the babies are big enough to fly away.'
