This is the heartwarming moment firemen rescued a terrified dog stranded on the ledge of a high-rise building in Malaysia.

The mutt had somehow become stuck on the seventh-storey ledge of the apartment in the town of Teluk Kumbar on Penang Island on January 11.

Footage shows the shy pooch turning its face away from a firefighter as he tried to win it over with a treat.

Despite his best efforts, the fireman was thoroughly ignored, with the stray haughtily facing the wall instead.

Speaking to local media, Penang fire station director Saadon Mokhtar said: 'We received a call that a stray dog was stuck on the seventh floor of an apartment along Jalan Teluk Kumbar.'

He added that the team successfully won the dog over, and eventually brought it to safety before it was released.
