A snowy mountaintop appeared to be burning as golden sunlight shone on it in southwestern China.

The video was filmed at Deqing County of Diqing Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture on November 23, 2022.

As clouds blew over the mountain's peak they were illuminated by the sunlight making it look as if the area was on fire.

The occurrence is related to an atmospheric phenomenon called the Belt of Venus. It is a pinkish glow which is visible shortly before sunrise or after sunset.

At the time of sunrise or sunset, when the position of the sun is far away from the earth, the blue light is scattering more than red light so that the mountain looks reddish as if it is on fire.

This mesmerizing scenery occurs at a specific place at a specific time, which often occurs in Meili Snow Mountain, Yulong Snow Mountain, Hailuogou Glacier and Niubeishan Mountain.

Plenty of visitors and photographers have taken pictures of the golden snow mountains. It is rare, however, to see such flaming clouds and mists surrounding the snow mountain.
