GOTHENBURG, July 27 – Zlatan Ibrahimovic saw his PSG side beaten 1-0 in Gothenburg by Real Madrid, but the Sweden captain wasn’t too downhearted afterwards, saying that though Real had “amazing football players”, both teams were in pre-season.

A first-half goal from Karem Benzema was all that separated the sides in a lively encounter watched by over 44,000 spectators at the Ullevi stadium.

Real Madrid goalkeeper Diego Lopez, who played the full game between the posts for Madrid, said afterward that the game was important in terms of building up the team physically and tactically for the year ahead.

He and Spanish international goalkeeper Iker Casillas are expected to compete for the number one spot this year under new coach Carlos Ancelotti.

PSG coach Laurent Blanc told reporters that he was happy with his side’s preparations for the start of the season, and that new €64 million signing Edison Cavani was one of a number of players working hard to be fit for the start of the season.
