Fires burned during clashes between youths and Israeli security forces over Joseph's Tomb in the West Bank on Tuesday evening January 17.

Palestinians hurled objects at the soldiers from the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) as they moved into the eastern region of Nablus. The clashes centered on Al-Quds Street and the entrance to Balata camp with fighters detonating an explosive device targeting Israeli vehicles near Al-Hisba Street.

This was accompanied by violent confrontations that broke out with the occupation forces in the Dahiya area, Al-Ghawi junction, Al-Quds Street, and Amman Street, as the youths lit rubber tires and threw stones and Molotov cocktails at the occupation vehicles.

Forces made a number of arrests and responded to the violence with tear gas. A number of Palestinians were injured.

Joseph's Tomb, east of the city of Nablus in a residential area, is a focal point of tension in the area. Orthodox Israelis visit Joseph Tomb's on a monthly basis for pilgrimages, with the IDF attempting to secure the area.
